Festival Season Inspiration Series - Look #2:The Modern Tomboy

April 09, 2016

In case you are just joining us, we are in the midst of Festival Season!  So we're getting you  all packed up, whether you're Coachella bound, hitting up FYF, rocking out at Stagecoach, or trekking over seas for Primavera!
So here we are at Look number 2, The Modern Tomboy, now the modern tomboy can be a little more feminine and fun than in the past. Here we'll dive into a great assortment of separates that you can mix and match to find your perfect look, and top it off with some more subtle accessories. (And just in case you missed out, our first look we featured was the Bohemian Babe, check it our here!)
Tops! Let's start with some solid staple pieces and build from there.
Deep V Neck Modal Tee $28
Now let me just share something with you, in case you are not familiar with my favorite fabric: Modal. It is an eco-friendly fabric, that does not shrink, pill, fade or wrinkle. Can we say, a fabric made for a traveling girl on the go?! Try this Tee in black or white
The U Neck Thermal Tank $28
A great, modern-classic shape, but the thermal texture of the fabric gives this tank a great lift up from the ordinary. Available in black and grey
Sabine Tank $32
This slightly oversized tank has a High Lo cut and is ultra lightweight, so perfect for layering!
Available in Storm or Cream
Ok, let's start adding some layers to these staples...
Wear it buttoned, open or somewhere in between!
The Tencel Button Up comes in 2 washes: Light and Medium, $42 each
Black Striped Twill Top $38
Love the side slits on this style
Might be my favorite plaid color combo I've yet to see!
Now to pair these with some of our new denim lines! We have recently expanded our denim selection to include 2 great quality brands, at a fraction of the price of many premium denim lines: Kut from the Kloth and Articles of Society.
There are a few denim looks we are loving this year, and while we still adore our skinny jeans, we've also branched out to making the boyfriend jean a more relaxed staple.
The Seattle Straight Jean by Articles of Society is a slimmer boyfriend style with a touch of distress $88
How about mixing it up with some white? Like these Reese Straight Ankle Jeans by Kut from the Kloth $89
And like I said, we still love our skinny jeans around here, and you can never go wrong with a classic dark wash, mid rise, toothpick skinny, like the Mia Toothpick Jean here in Euro Wash $84
And of course, when it's too darn hot to think about pants, go for some cut offs!
Finish the look with some shoes and accessories:
The Ballah Blowfish Sandal, so comfortable they will be your go-to's for festivals to come! $49
When in doubt you can always count on a classic leather flip flop, like the Freewaters Full Grain Charlie Sandals $55 (bonus! These sandals support clean water projects across the world!)
Add some simple geometric studs, wood bangles and a pendant necklace:
Tiny Hexagon Studs, handmade of jewelers brass with sterling silver posts $22
The Beth Wood Skinny Bangle Set features hand painted geometric wood bangles in gold and black $35
Sierra Metal and Wood Sunglasses by Blue Planet here in Turquoise (bonus! These sunglasses are made of sustainable recycled materials!) $49.95
Try some cool, minimal geometric temporary tattoos by Tattify, See the full selection here
I hope that we helped get your wheels turning and gave you some inspiration for your festival worthy looks!
